Hemlock Treehouse
An octagonal treehouse was built around the trunk of a sturdy Western Hemlock. As requested by our client, the treehouse should be difficult to access, so to keep the riff-raff out one has to climb a rope to a wooden chute that drops down from the internal floor of the treehouse. If you reach the chute, you can pass up through a trap door into the treehouse. Once inside, circumnavigate the stem of the mighty hemlock and open the door to the balcony. The balcony features a woven timber balustrade and two floor-to-ceiling window panels. The structure itself is perfectly centred, with the stem of the tree passing directly through the middle of the hipped roof. A variety of carpentry techniques were implemented to bring this modest but gorgeous treehouse to life.
